Our Sunday prayer for fallen away / non-practicing Catholics: The Our Father

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

AMEN.

St. Dominic, please pray for all the non-practicing Catholics in our lives. Please pray that they will make it to heaven. Amen.

Wow, I think that is the first time I have ever typed out the Our Father. I've prayed it so many times, but never typed it out! May God bless you all on this beautiful Sunday day!

Daily rosary: Praying the rosary every day

Our parish priest recommends that everyone pray the rosary every single day. This is something I would like to do, but don't yet. Why not? Good question! It seems so hard to get through even 5 decades of the rosary with taking care of my dear son. Doesn't that sound terrible? I get easily distracted and can't seem to concentrate on tasks like I used to. This has happened mainly since my dear son was born. I feel absent minded and tired so much of the time. I know this is no excuse. Please pray for me, that I can start praying the rosary more often. I would like to get to the point where I do this every day, but for now, I suppose even once a week would be good.

I sometimes start praying it in bed, but before I know it, my mind has drifted...

So, with that being said, I hope that all of you can persevere in saying the daily rosary for all fallen away Catholics, including my spouse! Thank you for all your prayers!

St. Dominic, please pray for us. Amen.

Daily prayer for fallen away Catholics

One thing I need to work on is praying more each day. Am I alone in this? I know I don't pray nearly as much as I should, which means I don't pray enough for all the fallen away Catholics in my life. I hope to make 2009 a better year of prayer for me... is this a goal for anyone else too?

Dear Jesus, please guide all the fallen away Catholics in our lives back to the Catholic Church. AMEN.

Pray the rosary online - virtual rosary!

I mentioned recently about asking St. Dominic to intercede for the fallen away Catholics in our lives and also to PRAY THE ROSARY for the conversion of all fallen away Catholics.

So, to help you all out with this... did you know you can pray the rosary online? A "virtual rosary"? The site is called Virtual Rosary and is at http://www.virtualrosary.org

Check it out! It's awesome!

St. Dominic chosen as "patron saint" of Praying for Fallen Away Catholics site

St. Dominic has been chosen as a "patron saint" of Praying for Fallen Away Catholics blog / site. I recently read that St. Dominic promoted the praying of the rosary for Catholics who had lapsed in their faith. Thus, I thought St. Dominic would be a great "patron saint" for this site.

Are there other "patron saints" you would recommend for this site?

St. Dominic, please pray for all the fallen away Catholics in our lives. Please pray that God will bring them back to the Holy Roman Catholic Church and guide them to heaven.

Please pray the rosary for all fallen away Catholics. If you're not sure how to pray the rosary, check out this link from EWTN: http://www.ewtn.com/Devotionals/prayers/rosary/how_to.htm

Do not let yourselves be discouraged!!

Okay, since my husband is a fallen away Catholic, I can easily become discouraged in mass when I see other families together... especially those with a child my son's age, who have their daddies in church. I wish my husband were there with me. It is very hard taking care of a little one by myself during mass, and I feel like I don't get much out of mass, but I am doing the best I can during mass without my husband there. I think most people in church must think I'm a single mother. And then my PRIDE wants to step in and scream, NO, I'M NOT.... I am married... but my husband is fallen away.... please pray for him!

But YET, my son and I go to church together every weekend. I pray that somehow, some way, our prayers will bring my husband back to Church. Who knows? Maybe somehow my son will help bring my husband (his daddy!) back to the Church!

Please pray for my husband.... and please feel free to share your stories. I would love to hear from others out there.

May God bless all of you, and most especially the fallen away Catholics in our lives. Never give up HOPE!

Sacrificing for the fallen away Catholics in our lives

In addition to praying for the fallen away Catholics in our lives, we can offer up our daily sacrifices for them. Offer up all the pains and struggles we feel each day for them, for their conversion, and to help them get to heaven.

Here are some ideas you can do:

  • Fast for their conversion
  • Don't eat your favorite food (or soda, chocolate, etc.) for a day, and offer up this up to the Lord
  • Spend an hour in front of the Blessed Sacrament
  • Offer up your daily struggles for their conversion
  • Every time you feel sadness or pain, pray "Dear Jesus, please bring [name] back to Your Holy Church."

Please feel free to share sacrifices and prayers for our loved ones!
